[San Diego’s Crocodiles describe their new single as “salsa-punk.” The band returns with their fifth studio album, Boys, on May 12. Recorded in Mexico City with Vampyres of Justice producer Martin Thulin, who mixed the band’s psychedelic sound with more Latin rhythms.The follow-up to 2013’s Crimes of Passion. The noise pop/indie pop band was formed in 2008 by core members Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell after the break-up of their former punk bands Some Girls and The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower. Brandon Welches also played in an early incarnation of Dum Dum Girls and he is married to frontwoman Dee Dee Penny.]

[I first encountered the voice and spirit of Kiya Heartwood as part of the award-winning American folk-roots duo, Wishing Chair, with multi-instrumentalist Miriam Davidson. The band formed in 1995 and released 8 recordings on their independent label, Terrakin Records. Kiya Heartwood began her professional music career in a Lexington, KY, and previously was part of the band Stealin Horses on Arista Records. Kiya Heartwood has also released multiple solo recordings. Her one-woman show, Short Stories, was critically acclaimed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014.]

[Jose Gonzalez’s first self-production and his first to feature all original material. Sessions took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, in his home kitchen and at Svenska Grammofonstudion. Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist from Gothenburg, Sweden. González is also a member of the Swedish band Junip, along with Tobias Winterkorn.]

(Since this recording Keenan Nichols has left the band and Chris Meck is now in the line up.) The three Phillips brothers had previously been in the ska & rock band, The Gadjits. In June 2004 The Gadjits ended and The Architects, was formed. The Architects have toured on the Vans Warped Tour, with My Chemical Romance, and Floggin Molly.]
[Border Wars is a a five-part concept album and graphic novel series funded by the band’s loyal fans through crowd sourcing, and by the band members themselves. [Debut release from Kansas City based trio. Collin and Kyle’s father was a High School band director and music teacher. Konnor Ervin is also the lead singer and songwriter of The ACBs, where Kyle also plays drums. Their 10 song release had two singles that were premiered by Stereogum. Wednesday MidDay Medley has been a big fan of all of The ACBs recordings. In 2011 we started playing songs from The I’ms, a duo made of brothers Collin and Kyle, who posted 6 of their self recorded songs on their facebook page. We included this informal release in our Top Ten of The 111 Best Recordings of 2011. 3 of the songs from those early The I’ms recording were re-recorded for Shy Boys. Recorded at West End Studio, over 2-weekends. Shy Boys last joined us live on the show on February 15, 2014.]

The three original members will reunite for the first time in years to play and officially release an album that was recorded 12 years ago. from: Violet Music Vol. 1 / Indep. / April 12, 2014 [Jamie Searle won critical acclaim as lead vocalist and songwriter for the band It’s Over, winner of a Pitch Music Award for Best Live Act. He left It’s Over to concentrate on his music education as a student of UMKC’s Conservatory of Music where he has immersed himself in musical theory, compostion, harmonic structure, melody. Out of school, Jamie spent a year and a half recording the full length release of material he composed for a large ensemble of musicians. The result is: “Violet Music Vol. 1” the debut full length release from Jamie’s band, My Brothers & Sisters, a collective of musicians, including a strings, horns, percussionists, bass, keyboards, vocalists, and back-up vocalists, and Jamie on vocals, guitar, conducting. Jamie Searle joined us live on the show on October 29.]

J. Ashley Miller and Drew Roth are two of the members of the KC based trance band Quadrigarum, who are presenting a new operetta called, R v B, featuring six actors and an octet of curated musicians. In conjunction with their grant from the Charlotte Street Foundation, the performance will be captured with high definition cameras and recording equipment and will feature two drone instruments, known as ‘Chariots’, designed and built by founder, and conductor of Quadrigarum, J. Ashley Miller.

Quadrigarum’s music is called Trance and Grey Metal.
The Quadrigarum “Chariots” are framed wooden structures, that hold a guitar in a position with a spinning wheel. The spokes that wheel strike the strings of the electric guitar, as the wheel is spun by the musician/performer.
