1. The B’Dinas – “Movin’ Movin’”

[Winner of Audience Favorite on the Electric Stage at the HRC Battle of The Bands, this past Sunday January 15. The B’Dinas will perform at a special CD Release concert for their new 6 song EP, on Saturday, February 25 at Czar.]

2. Baby Teardrops – “ME Where”
from: X Is For Love / Golden Sound Records / November 15, 2011
[KC native and former Doris Henson leader, Matthew Dunehoo’s new band, was formed in NYC with Megan Thomas and Gerry White. Golden Sound Records of Kansas City re-released “X is for Love” on November 15th, in digital, CD, and for the first time, vinyl formats. The release also included exclusive remixes of album tracks. Matt Dunehoo and a Kansas City version of Baby Teardrops performed a Vinyl release concert on November 25 at The Brick, with Olivetti Letter opening the show.]

Joining us for the 90.1 FM – Winter Fund Drive Show, were very special co-hosts: Bill Sundahl, Maria Vasquez Boyd, Philip ‘blue owl’ Hooser, and Ginny Tadlock.

Bill Sundahl is the founder of Spice of Life Productions, “The Donkey Show,” and The Crossroads Music Festival. Bill Sundahl a musician and singer and songwriter who was part of the Pitch Music Award winning band It’s Over, that ended in 2009., and now the new KC supergroup: The Starhaven Rounders, in concert at the recordBar February 26.

Maria Vasquz Boyd is a regular contributor to Wednesday MidDay Medley where she has produced and hosted special programs. Maria is also an accomplished artist and poet and is a founding member of the Latino Writers Collective.

Philip ‘blue owl’ Hooser is an Actor, playwright, director, and dramaturgical speaker, A published poet, columnist, and sometimes theatrical reviewer. He has worked as a Teaching Artist for Coterie Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Philip ‘blue owl’ Hooser is also creator of “Eat Their Words,” a series that is presented regularly at The Fishtank Performance Space and Prospero’s Books.

Ginny Tadlock Went to Bishop Miege High School and lives in Edgerton, Kansas. Ginny is a listener of 90.1 FM and has participated in KKFI’s Online Auction, and now she’s helping with our on-air fund drive. Ginny is also a big supportet of the arts and Kansas City’s Theatre scene.

3. Molly Picture Club – “Idears (You Don’t Dance Enough)”
from: Molly Picture Club / Independent / March 3, 2012 [KC based band featuring: Aniko Adany- vocals, synths, keys, omnichord, Matthew Hayden- drums, drum sequencing, and Michael Tipton- vocals, guitar, bass. Mike Tipton recently passed on to us brand new tracks from M.P.C.’s new recordings to be released March 3, at 10:00 PM, at the recordBar. The album was mixed and mastered by Duane Trower at Weights and Measures Soundlab here in KC. M.P.C. recently participated in Sonic Spectrum’s Talking Heads Tribute at the recordBar, and Mike Tipton gave one of the best performances of the night. Mike Tipton was one of our first guests on WMM, in 2004, when he was part of the band Tabla Rasa.]

4. Cowboy Indian Bear – “Mathematician/Colour”
from: Each Other All The Time / The Record Machine / May 11, 2010 [Lawrence, KS band, made up of Beau Bruns, Charles Calhoun, Katlyn Conroy and Martinez Hillard. Currently on tour and playing Chicago tonight at Beat Kitchen. Cowboy Indian Bear will be part of The Middle of The Map Festival.]

5. Fullbloods – “Flowers”
from: The Perpetual Machine / Golden Sound Records / 2011
[Ross Brown, Alex Chapman, Bill Pollock, & Glenn Shipps. Fullbloods will be in concert, Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 PM, at The Brick, 1727 MCGEE, Kansas City, MO with Richard the Lionhearted from Columbia, and Millions of Boys from Omaha, there will also be an acoustic set by Jerad Tomasino. Ross Brown w/Mat Shoare & Jerad Colton Tomasino started Golden Sound Records. Ross Brown and Jerad Colton Tomasino will be our special guests next week on WMM.]

6. The Hearts of Darkness – “Numeration”

[The Hearts of Darkness will play this year’s Midcoast Takeover in Austin for SXSW, they are also slated to appear at this year’s Middle of The Map Festival, and Wakaursa Festival. Bobby Asher tells us that the band expects to release the 2nd full length vinyl later in the Spring. The Hearts of Darkness and The Good Foot have teamed to release a split single 7” that features The Good Foot’s original tune: “Bad Way” and Hearts of Darkness’ first single “Numeration” off the upcoming album. The 7″ vinyl record w/ digital download will be released Sat, Feb 18, at The inaugural Carnivàle du Soul, at the Uptown Theater, 3700 Broadway. 7. Everyday/Everynight – “You’ve Died In A Dream (single)”

[Evan Ashby on Guitar, Mat Shoare on Guitar/Keyboard/Vocals, Austin Lyon on Drums, and Jerad Colton Tomasino on Guitar/Keyboard/Vocals. Golden Sound Records is a new local recording company who also release the music of Oriole Post, Fullbloods, The Caves, Millions of Boys, Baby Teardrops, and The Empty Spaces, as well as the solo works of Jerad Colton Tomasino and Mat Shoare. Everyday/Everynight, Oriole Post, Empty Spaces and Run Little Rabbit play The Brick, this Friday Night, February 10, for the first of 4 Midcoast Takeover showcase fundraisers to raise money to send over 20 area band to Austin for the SXSW Music Festival.]

[Victor & Penny performed LIVE on our Sept. 7 WMM. This Chicago / KC based duo is Jeff Freling of the Chicago Blue Man Group; and Erin McGrane of the cabaret group Alacartoona. Antique Pop which contains 8 vintage songs plus 2 original songs written by Jeff Freling and a song written by Barclay Martin.]

10. Making Movies – “Worry For Me”

12. The Grisly Hand – “Black Coffee”

[The new EP contains 2 original songs, “Western Ave.” & “Black Coffee,” and 2 covers, Radiohead’s “Thinking About You” & “Still Feelin’ Blue” by Gram Parsons. The 2 originals are currently being pressed into a 7″ dual A-Side. Nick Davis reports that the band is already back in the studio working on another EP, and they’ll be releasing a full-length around this time next year, with or without any label support.]

[Produced, engineered, mixed and master by Mike Crawford at the Impossible Box in Kansas City, with David Burchfield on vocals & guitar; Leslie Hammer on banjo, fiddle and viola; Seth Jenkins on upright bass, Jeff Larison on pedal steel and dobro; Andy Michael on piano and accordian; and Devon Russell on vocals, choir of angels. [Heather Thornton moved with her family to KC from Arkansas. She has been singing and performing for over 10 years in KC. She plays keyboards and sings and plays on the First Saturday of every month at Jazz 1823 W 39th Street KCMO with Jeramy Johnston – guitar/bass, Brian Ruskin – guitar, Bree Plaster – drums. 16. The ACB’s – “Feel Winter”

[Konnor Ervin on lead vocals, Andrew Connor on Guitar, Bryan McGuire on Bass, Kyle Rausch on Drums. David Hudnall of The Pitch wrote, “Nobody in the city is writing sharper or more inventive melodies than Ervin, who has honed his craft the old-fashioned way: working a part-time job, living in a (crappy) apartment and practicing music all the time.” Recenting while the band was out on the road, The ACB’s were invited to play for The Daytrotter Sessions, in the Horseshack studios, in Rockford, Illinois. The band recorded four songs: 2 from The ACB’s late 2010 release, “Stona Rosa,” and 2 brand new songs. On January 6, Daytrotter posted the songs at Daytrotter.com.]
