Formerly of the emo-rock band Our Lady 2010 to 2016, (Mayfly Records) With Bedroom Wounds, Kristian Kyle Ratliff, “furthered expressions of inner strife through the darkened tunnel that is loss. From dealing with these feelings personally, to watching loved ones engulfed in pain, Ratliff has formulated a sonic aura of unsettling proportions.” All tracks created by Kristian Kyle Ratliff. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Brandon Carnes at Southtown Studios in Springfield, IL.

Bedroom Wounds is now a 4-piece band in Kristian Kyle’s new home of KC, MO. Ada Brumback plays guitar in the band.

20. Looming – “Down”
from: Seed / No Sleep Records / September 29, 2017
[1st single from the upcoming release of Springfield, Illinois based band formed in 2013. The band consists of: Jessica Knight on bass & lead vocals, Brandon Carnes on drums & backing vocals, Mitch Baker on guitar & backing vocals, Nick Demarco on guitar, Cassie Staub on guitar & synthesizer. (Original member Jordan Fein left the band after their debut release.) “The band originally came together over a shared common vision and passion for songwriting. After years performing in various Springfield bands (Mother Leopard, Lovecow, Our Lady, Big Storm) the group fell into a natural groove with one another and became known for their unique emo-pop that’s led by the inimitable vocal stylings of Knight that pair perfectly with the band’s bright, airy sound.” “Three guitars work together to perform thick, overlapping lines that lead to satisfying breakdowns. Front-woman Jessica Knight’s curious, chewy singing style and a thumping rhythm section give Looming a potent edge above their peers. ” This album is a follow up to theor debut full-length album, Nailbiter that came out in August 14, 2015.]

[Jessica Knight (of Looming) plays Records With Merritt, on Wednesday, August 30, at 7:00 PM, with Runaway Brother, Bedroom Wounds, Prince Daddy and the Hyena, and Natural Man & the Reactors.]

21. Told Slant –”Lack”
from: Still Water / Double Whammy Records / August 5, 2012
[Told Slant is the songwriting project of Felix Walworth (They/Them), Brooklyn based lyricist, producer, and founding member of The Epoch arts collective. Walworth started the project in 2011 as a means of marking a stylistic shift in their songwriting, specifically a shift toward understated, ambling arrangements and simple, illustrative lyrics. Told Slant’s debut LP, Still Water, was self-released in 2012, then re-released and pressed to vinyl by Broken World Media in 2014. The band released their follow full-length record, Going By, with Double Double Whammy in the summer of 2016. Though Told Slant functions more like a “solo project” in its recorded state, its live incarnation is arranged and performed by Walworth and Epoch co- collaborators Emily Sprague of Florist (She/Her, They/Them), Oliver Kalb of Bellows (He/Him), and Gabrielle Smith of Eskimeaux (She/Her). Sprague, Kalb, and Smith bring their particular sets of influences and intuitions to the band’s live sets in a way that draws out more energetic and dynamic arrangements from the songs. Told Slant’s members live in Brooklyn, NY, and tour actively.]
