The quiet, saturated sound was inspired by vintage records, especially singers like Eydie Gorme and Roberta Flack. To record it, we just got loose in the studio and explored the song. After a short time we had something that felt right, and that’s what you hear on the record.” Jerad Tomasino is originally from Omaha Nebraska. He is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He studied Music Composition at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Jerad was a member of the band Everyday/Everynight, and was cofounder of The Crossroads Summer Block Party and Golden Sounds Records. Nate Bowman of the band Attic Light, on the August 24, 2016 edition of Wednesday MidDay Medley

Nate Bowman, is the founder and lead singer of the Kansas City based 4-piece band, Attic Light, who just recently finished several weeks of Midwest tour dates in support of their second EP, The EXILE, recorded in Nashville and released on March 18. Attic Light is Nate Bowman on vocals & guitar, Michael Pittman on guitar, Patrick Rippeto on bass, and Joseph Dillman on drums. Attic Light just released a new single called, “Hot in Kansas City.” Attic Light will play Springfield, Missouri on Friday, August 26, for Deitra Magazine, Attic Light also play Santa Cali Gon on Friday, September 2.

Nate Bowman, thanks for being with us on Wednesday MidDay Medley.

Attic Light started back in 2012 with Nate and bassist and friend, Patrick Rippeto. They started playing shows and released an EP called Different Shades of Black in 2014. The band found their current drummer Joseph Dillman and guitarist Michael Pittman, and started writing the Exile EP.

Their new single “Hot In Kansas City” was recorded with Joel Nanos at Element Recording in Kansas City.

Along with being a singer and guitarist and songwriter with Attic Light, Nate also works as an Instructor at Park University, and a Stage Carpenter at Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and he is working on his PhD at Kansas University.

Nate Bowman graduated from Excelsior Springs High in 2007.

He studied Theatre and Philosophy at Northwest Missouri State University where he graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.

Nate focused on Religious Studies at The University of Kansas from August 2013 to May 2015 where he received his Master Degree.

Nate is currently pursuing his PhD in Theatre, at Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas.

Since July 21, 2012, Nathan has been married to Elizabeth Bettendorf Bowman who is originally from Wahoo Nebraska.

In a May 10, 2016 interview with The Pitch Kansas City, Music Editor Natalie Gallagher asked Nate, “Is it hard to stay ambitious with so many obligations?” Nate answered, “With regard to ambition, I think you just have to get out there. We’re not making any money on music sales — any income we have as a band comes from playing shows. So in terms of keeping the band financed, it comes from touring and traveling, and it gets the music out there. I don’t think any of us would say that what we’re doing as a hobby.” Nate continued, “We’re very ambitious, at least from my point of view. It’s not a hobby for us. What little free time I have from my job is spent on the band, because we’re also independent, so I also manage the band. Outside of actually playing and writing and rehearsing, I spend 20 hours a week maintaining our website and social-media presence.”

Attic Light’s second EP, The EXILE, recorded in Nashville contains the song, “Whiskey Love,” the lead single from The EXILE that was also made into a music-video that caught the attention of Paste Magazine, who included it in their May 24, 2016 edition. The video was created in collaboration with by J. Rieger and Co.
