[Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar’s departure. Wilco’s lineup changed frequently during its first decade, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. Since early 2004, the lineup has been unchanged, consisting of Tweedy, Stirratt, guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco has released eleven studio albums, a live double album, and four collaborations: three with Billy Bragg and one with The Minus 5. Wilco’s music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles, including Bill Fay, The Beatles and Television, and has in turn influenced music by a number of modern alternative rock acts. The band continued in the alternative country style of Uncle Tupelo on its debut album A.M. (1995), but has since introduced more experimental aspects to their music, including elements of alternative rock and classic pop. Wilco’s musical style has evolved from a 1990s country rock sound to a current “eclectic indie rock collective that touches on many eras and genres.”[Wilco garnered media attention for their fourth album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2001), and the controversy surrounding it. After the recording sessions were complete, Reprise Records rejected the album and dismissed Wilco from the label. As part of a buy-out deal, Reprise gave Wilco the rights to the album for free. After streaming Foxtrot on its website, Wilco sold the album to Nonesuch Records in 2002. Both record labels are subsidiaries of Warner Music Group, leading one critic to say the album showed “how screwed up the music business is in the early twenty-first century.” Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is Wilco’s most successful release to date, selling over 670,000 copies. Wilco won two Grammy Awards for their fifth studio album, 2004’s A Ghost Is Born, including Best Alternative Music Album. Wilco released their ninth studio album, Star Wars, in July 2015, and in September 2016 released their tenth studio album, Schmilco, followed finally by their eleventh studio album, Ode to Joy, in October 2019.]

Previously based in her hometown of Iowa City, she has spent the past year slowly but surely carving out her place in the Kansas City scene both as a solo performer (as Hadiza.) and as lead vocalist and songwriter of experimental electronic group Collidescope. Blessed to have had parents who are very much NOT students of music, but recognized the importance of music education, Hadiza spent her childhood and adolescence in part as a student of piano. Vocally, Hadiza takes her cues from American artists including Fiona Apple, Tracey Chapman, and Billie Holiday and African artists including Angelique Kidjo. Her sound/genre is best described as an eclectic blend of blues, soul, folk, jazz and classical. Her songwriting is a process of release and acceptance of life events navigating an often brutal bleak and harsh world and is a form of therapy. If you don’t relate to the content, you just don’t relate. Oh well. The most amazing experience however is when a stranger in the audience connects with a song in their own way and is courageous enough to share that with her. Aside from the therapeutic aspect of creating music, this is why she continues to write and perform.]

Last December 29, 2018, Hadiza. released her EP Gone, and now she is back with a new 10 song, full-length album called, Shadow Weight, which continues to showcase her deeply moving voice and piano, that she considers her primary “tools” that she uses to get through…to herself. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, she has lived in Bushwick, and Atlanta. Hadiza. worked in for corporate America in the New York Finance District. For many years she studied the piano, while keeping her singing voice private. Eventually as she writes, she made the jump into her new life of composing, singing, writing, collaborating and presenting what she calls a blend of soul, classical, blues and folk. Since relocating to Kansas City from her hometown of Iowa City, she has been slowly carving out her place in the scene as a solo artist and as lead vocalist and lyricist for the experimental electronic duo Collidescope a band formed with Madi Mclaughlin.

Tools summoning words to assist in the recursively unfolding Undertaking; to confront and embrace hers and her family’s shadows. She angles lenses available to her; neo-colonialism, romantic rejection, overbearing anxiety, and the maddening oscillations (often overlaps) of invisibility and hyper-visibility, directing the sun’s rays to illuminate.”

“Jumping timelines in Bushwick, Atlanta, Iowa City (birthplace) and now Kansas City as a keyboardist, background singer, lead vocalist and band leader, this is a journey of many entry points. What was first a coping mechanism to maintain sanity in the distinctly other-izing world of the New York Finance District version of Corporate America soon sparked the drive to study the complexities of her voice; building upon a foundation formed from middle school choir, a private love for singing, and years of training in piano.”

“When this all started, Hadiza’s timeline was one within which she acted as an element to other projects and was more than content labeling any pursuit of music a ‘hobby’. Time did what it does best in presenting more and more opportunities to jump, with each jump higher than the last. That first jump though? It was rough. Now, she composes, sings, writes, plays, refines, collaborates, shares, repeat in no particular order. The result has been an eclectic blend of soul, classical, jazz, blues and folk. Lauren Flynn plays piano, guitar, mandolin, bass. Lauren grew in Independence, Missouri and prior to Olivia Fox had been performing solo artist playing as L.A. Price.

Aubrey Callahan sings, plays keyboards, synthesizers, guitar in Olivia Fox and is also an award winning Kansas City based wedding photographer with Aubrey Erin Photography. [25 year old Una Walkenhorst is a singer/songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri. Following the release of her debut album “Scars” in 2014, Una immediately had “new fans. . . coming out of the proverbial woodwork” (AXS). Paired with refreshingly raw vocals, Una’s heartfelt lyrics “will stop you in your tracks (at once beautiful and chilling),” wrote Gilded Palace Radio, as she weaves stories of genuine human experience. Una told KCUR FM that her father was one of the people who made her love music. But having a famous father can be challenging: “I knew that if I started my music career here I would have a lot of opportunities, but not all of them would be because of my music. They would be because I am someone’s daughter,” Walkenhorst says. Loading up her 97 Honda Civic, Una then spent a year traveling across North America promoting her music and connecting with listeners one-on-one. She ended up living in New Orleans. Una Walkenhorst is the youngest daughter of Bob Walkenhorst, a founding member of The Rainmakers, which had national and international hits in the 1980s and 90s, and continue to this day touring and recording new music. In January of 2018 Una Walkenhorst returned home to Kansas City from New Orleans. Over the past several years, Una and Bob had performed together at selected events, including Folk Alliance International. In the last 23 months, 26 year old,, Una has played The Folly, Boulevardia, Crossroads Music Fest, Middle of The Map Fest, opened for Soccer Mommy, The Wild Reeds, Bela Fleck; played NPR’s “Best of Kansas City” concert for her 2018 Tiny Desk Contest;, and has helped to produce shows to benefit The Innocence Project, and MOCSA. Last year In Una released the album “For Tomorrow” with her father Bob Walkenhorst, taking turns as songwriters with 5 from Una, interwoven with 5 from Bob, written individually, and recorded together, in shared musical DNA harmonies, that can be heard in family bands like The Carter Family, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, or Shy Boys.

Chase The Horseman is a band, a film composer, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer, and producer. As a musician and producer Chase has collaborated with Clairaudients, Teri Quinn, Heidi Lynne Gluck, KD Kuro, Nan Turner, and many more. Recently Chase released his latest EP “Disinformation Blues.”
