The Kansas City Super-Group, Dead Voices were formed in September of 2010. The band includes: David Regnier, Jason Beers, Matt Richey, Michael Stover, Marco Pascolini, and sometimes Lauren Krum who sings with David on “Pardoning” from the new EP. The band is releasing their six-song debut EP with a special live performance, this Saturday, April 20, at 10:00 at the recordBar, 1020 Westport Rd. with Austerity Measures, and The Ants. David Regnier was part of critically acclaimed band The Afterparty, that released three full-length recordings. He formed Dead Voices with Jason Beers of The Brannock Device, and Mike Stover and Matt Richey of The Grisly Hand, and Marco Pascolini who plays in The Brannock Device with Jason, and is founder of Mr. Marcos V7 and band that also includes Mike Stover. Also joining the band on a semi regular basis is Lauren Krum who aside from her work as lead vocalist with The Grisly Hand, also sings with David as the duo Ruddy Swain.

Ben Grimes leads the band, Soft Reeds, releasing their new full-length recording, “Blank City” from The Record Machine. Soft Reeds play a Kansas City Album Release Party, Friday, April 26, at the Riot Room, 4048 Broadway, with Be/Non, and Rev Gusto. More info at: softreeds.com

“Blank City” is the follow up to the Soft Reeds 2010 debut full-length release “Soft Reeds Are Bastards.”

Ben is originally from Chicago. Many of us came to know hismusic through the Astralwerks Records signed band, Golden Republic. Ben talked about seeing the music industry from so many perspectives.

Mark also talked with Ben about his love for, Bowie, Eno, music of the “Berlin Trilogy. “ Ben promised to come back on a future show as aguest producer and play the music that has inspired him.

A KC native, Albert Bickley has been writing, recording and performing original music for years. Dave Tanner, a Canadian who calls Parkville, MO, home, has played bass in many bands through the years and also currently plays in Liverpool: A Tribute to The Beatles. Together Albert Bickley and Dave Tanner formed The Depth and The Whisper in late 2010 as a vehicle to share new songs and ideas.

Dave Tanner & Albert Bickley, and drummer Kelsey Cook joined us live in the studio.

In 2011 The Depth and The Whisper released their debut EP of six songs, titled “One Steady Breath” that was created with musician, producer and recording engineer – John Velghe who captured the band’s sound at his at Guttersnipe Recording Co. during the spring of 2011.

The song “Be Together” was used in a short film produced by people at Hallmark
