New & Local Releases + BREAD! KC + Sterling Witt LIVE!
Mark plays more Local & New Releases from: The Sneaky Creeps, Stephin Merritt, Rex Hobart, Gillian Welch, Yellow Ostrich, Caveman, Bon Iver, Everyday/Everynight, Maria Taylor, Guy Forsyth, City and Colour, Fruitbats, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Nicolette Paige, and Death Cab For Cutie.
At 10:30 AM Mark talks with Sean Starowitz, recent graduate of The Kansas City Art Institute, and founder of BREAD! KC, an art project he conceived in 2010. Joining us in the conversation is Joy Costa who along with Andrew Erdrich became partners with Sean to create BREAD! KC events. BREAD! KC creates funding for local artists by hosting a dinner, where for a $10 donation, diners are served a bowl of fresh soup, fresh baked bread, and a ballot. Three different creative projects are presented, and diners vote for one to receive the money collected from the evening. BREAD! KC has awarded micro-grants to area writers, gardeners, bands and artists. A recent dinner featured vegan and non-vegetarian versions of split pea soup; fresh focaccia bread topped with pears, ginger and cream cheese; and a Reuben salad. More info at breadkc.wordpress.com
