In anticipation of, Folk Alliance International Conference, Mark features music from: The Matchsellers, Under The Big Oak Tree, Kasey Rausch, Julian Davis, Pirates Canoe, We Banjo 3, and The Jellyman’s Daughter. We’ll also feature new music from: My Oh My, and Wyatt West!
At 10:15, Mark talks with company members of Spinning Tree Theatre, about the KC professional theatre premiere of, 13, an original musical with music & lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Dan Elish & Robert Horn. Spinning Tree Theatre’s production of 13 features 13 of KC’s brightest stars-to-be in an explosive and heartwarming evening of song and dance. The show is Rated PG-13, and presented at the Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Penn Valley Drive, KCMO and running February 11 thru 28, Wednesdays thru Sundays. At 10:30, A.M. Merker and members of My Oh My, join us in our 90.1 FM studios. My Oh My is a 3-woman, 5-man band from Kansas City, that plays “a big, bearhugging blend of Americana, classic rock and folk.” The band includes: Stephen Berry on guitars; Grant Buell on keyboards; Sarah Dolt, Stephanie Gaume & Melissa Geffert on vocals; Jason Harper on bass; Jacob Horpinjuk on drums, A.M. Merker on lead vocals. The band’s second release, the EP, Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way, was released December 12, 2015. The new music was recorded, engineered, and mixed by Joel Nanos at Element Recording, KCMO. My Oh My plays The Brick, Saturday, February 13, with Pocket Vinyl, and 40 Watt Dream. At 11:00 The Matchsellers will play live in our 90.1 FM studios and share information about their new record, “Songs We Made Up” to be released Friday, February 12, 2016. The Matchsellers is a bluegrass duo that began in the streets of former East Germany and now crisscrosses the US Interstate system year-round. In 2012, Julie Bates and Andrew Morris met while working as English teachers in Leipzig, Germany. Bates is a classically trained violinist from Kansas City, Missouri, and Morris grew up playing electric blues guitar in the dive bars of Warsaw, Indiana.
