At 10:10 Enrique Chi of Making Movies joins us to talk about the band’s new live EP, Baúl de las Movies: Rocky Mountain Folks Festival 2024 (En Vivo) released on April 25. The recording was captured during their 2024 magnetic set at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, Colorado, the EP offers a raw and electrifying glimpse into the band’s dynamic live energy and genre-blending spirit. The 5-track collection gives fans an early taste of their highly anticipated full-length album due out later this year. At 10:30am we talk with Albert Racanati who records as ALBER, a genre-bending musician originally from Bari, Italy, now established in Kansas City. He learned to play his first notes on the trumpet at age 11. In 2016 Alberto moved to Kansas City to pursue a Doctoral Degree at the University of Missouri-KC, where he became enamored with the local music scene. At 11:00 Mark talks with Julia Othmer & James T Lundie about The Forcefields. Julia Othmer grew up in Kansas City and studied at Columbia University in New York City. She released her 2nd album “Sound,” on April 12, 2019, produced with James Lundie. She had been introduced to his music production and fell so deeply in love with his sonic architecture, she transported to the UK, and refused to leave until he listened to her songs. James married Julia in January of 2016, during the completion of the record. Julia & James released Seeds (Vol. 1) in 2020, and SEEDS (V0l. 2) in 2022. In the midst of these releases Julia and James relocated to Kansas City and recently unveiled their newest creation, THE FORCEFIELDS featuring, reimagined vintage synthesizers, video projections, one of a kind instruments. The Forcefields are debuting lots of new music at Greenwood Social Hall 1750 Belleview Ave, Second Floor, KCMO on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 at 7:00pm.
