WMM presents: David Luther + Redder Moon + Katlyn Conroy of Cheery

Mark spins more New & MidCoastal releases from: Hot Club KC, IVORY BLUE, Various Blonde, Redder Moon, David Luther, Cheery, Calvin Arsenia, Royel Otis, Adrianne Lenker, and Ken Pomeroy

At 10:30 we welcome back to the show, David Luther a KC-based music artist known for his soulful Americana, indie-folk, and blues-infused rock. Rooted in the rich musical landscape of the Midwest, Luther’s music often explores themes of resilience, the search for connection, and the beauty of everyday life. David Luther recorded his first self-titled EP in 2009 with Nashville producer Neilson Hubbard, featuring backing vocals from Americana artist Garrison Starr. In July 2024, David again joined Neilson Hubbard along with Juan Solórzano, and engineer Dylan Alldredge in their East Nashville studio to record the album, Who You Are, released April 25, 2015. The new album features partner Kelly Dougherty on “Wrecking Bay” and Garrison Starr on “If Love Just Ain’t Enough.” David Luther plays an Album Release Show at recordBar, May 22, at 7:00pm. At 11:00 Jeremiah James Gonzales and Sergio Anthony Gonzales share three of their latest singles from Redder Moon‘s upcoming full length vinyl LP, “ If You’re Falling, Dive” to be released this summer. The record will be a limited edition brick red vinyl. These singles were produced and mixed by Jeremiah James Gonzales and mastered by Gordy Goudie of Echo & The Bunnymen, and Simple Minds. Jeremiah told us that he “linked up with Gordy Goudie through a UK management company led by Nick Quirk. Gordy Goudie liked our stuff so he agreed to master it and share it with his people. Pretty exciting stuff! Still not sure what it all entails but there’s talk about doing some UK touring in the fall barring any crazy political shit that might occur from now until then.” More information at: http://www.jarmcharmproductions.com

At 11:30 Mark welcomes back to the show singer musician Katlyn Conroy, who was born in Lawrence, Kansas where she became known for her critically acclaimed work in the bands: Cowboy Indian Bear, La Guerre, and Hospital Ships. Two years ago Katlyn moved 4000 miles away to Liverpool, England, where she released her debut Cheery record, Bliss on Spirit House Records. Bliss was part of WMM’s 120 Best Recordings of 2024. Cheery is the “Dream Pop” music project of Katlyn Conroy who is now back in Kansas for the remainder of 2025, before her permanent return to Liverpool. Cheery is currently recording their second record, Cyclical Sadness. Joining Katlyn is her Cheery band-mate, Chris Catterall, a guitarist and songwriter based in Liverpool, from the band Pocket Apocalypse. Cheery recently played Replay in Lawrence with Bad Alaskan and Mosaic. More info at: http://www.cheery.bandcamp.com
