Guest Producer Krystle Warren
Mark welcomes Krystle Warren who will join us for the entire show as “Guest Producer.” Krystle will take over Wednesday MidDay Medley playing musical tracks from: Dionne Warwick, Jimmy Cliff, D’Angelo, Fink, Prince, Robert Palmer, Rufus Wainwright, Emily King, Blake Mills, Joan as Police Woman, Mathieu Boogaerts, Menahan Street Band, Dirty Projectors, Andrew Bird, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jai Paul, Dr. John, Bobby Blue Bland, Lord Huron, Ex-Reyes, and King.
Krystle Warren began her musical career in her hometown, Kansas City. She is a graduate of Paseo Academy of Performing Arts. After living in San Francisco and New York City, Krystle was signed to the French recording label Because Music, and moved to Paris and released her album “Circles.” Krystle has played many French and British television programs, including Later with Jools Holland. She has been compared to Tracy Chapman and Nina Simone, garnering critical acclaim and traveling all over the world, touring with Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Norah Jones, and Joan As Police Woman. Krystle created her own music label: Parlour Door Music to release, “Love Songs: A Time you May Embrace” a recording from a 13 day session in Brooklyn, where she recorded 24 songs live with 28 musicians including her band, The Faculty, alongside choirs, horn and string sections. Krystle is currently getting set to release her latest album of original songs, where she plays all of the musical instruments and sings all of the lead and background vocals. Krystle Warren will be in concert, for a special solo performance, at Prospero’s Books, 1800 W 39th St, KCMO, Sunday, July 3, at 8:00 pm. Prospero’s Books was the very first venue Krystle played as a musician, at a monthly event called “The Pit,” hosted by Will Leathem. Tickets are $12.00 at the door; $10.00 dollars advance.
