Broken Arrows

At 10:15 Barry Lee and Dave Storms, of the Kansas City/Lawrence based 5-piece band, Broken Arrows join us live in our 90.1 FM studios. The band also includes: Mike Penner on lead guitar & vocals; Bill Ryan on lead guitar, keyboards & vocals; and John Chevalier on bass guitar & vocals. Broken Arrows got together as a one-shot-deal to play a Neil Young Tribute at Davey’s Uptown in 2015. The band received such a positive reaction and enjoyed playing together so they decided to continue as a working band. Broken Arrows will premiere their debut EP, “Extended Play” with a Special Release show, Saturday, March 18, at 6:00 PM, at Records With Merritt, 1614 Westport Rd, KCMO.

Mikal Shapiro

At 11:15, Mark welcomes Mikal Shapiro, KC based singer/songwriter and filmmaker, who studied Film History, Film, and Writing at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, and received her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying Film, Video, New Media, and Animation. Mikal is the creator of the web television project, “Go! Go! Global Girls.” She has also created music videos for herself, Dead Voices and Folkicide. Mikal performs with Chad Brothers as, The Shapiro Brothers, she is a member of the 6-piece latin based band Ayllu, she plays in the 4-piece band Royalphonic, and with Kasey Rausch as, Partners in Glory. Mikal Shapiro’s full length solo releases include the critically acclaimed: ”The Crow The Lark And The Loon,” from 2008, “For Good,” from 2010, and “The Musical,” from 2015. Mikal Shapiro is producer and co-host of River Trade Radio, airing Sunday mornings at 9:00 am on 90.1 FM KKFI. Mikal Shapiro will be performing The Musical with a full band, Saturday, March 18, at 9:00 PM at Holy Cow Market & Music with the Kansas City band, Expassionates.
