Wednesday MidDay Medley celebrate the 6th Annual Lawrence Field Day Fest, July 13-15, in Downtown Lawrence, Kansas, featuring near 100 bands at 8 venues with showcases from: Replay Records, I Heart Local Music, High Dive Records, Datura Records, Whatever Forever records, PEB Sounds, and Weepy Vision Productions.
We’ll play music from: The Phantastics, Bummer, Psychic Heat, The Bad Ideas, Toughies, Raymond, Ricky Roosevelt & Alccalh, Wendy Moira, Approach, Arc Flash, Vedettes, Jade Archetype, Nick Siegel, The Dear Misses, Instant Karma, and Dressy Bessy.
At 10:15 members of the band Instant Karma join us to share music from their new EP, Trying to Find My Mind, to be released July 22. Kansas City based, Instant Karma features: Colby Bales on vocals & guitar, Cody Calhoun on guitar, Branden Moser on bass, Zach Harris on drums. At 10:35 the new KC based, 4-piece band, SHE SAID, plays live in our 90.1 FM studios. SHE SAID is made up of Jennie Ferguson on vocals & guitar, Scott Mize on guitar, Doug Hitchcock on drums, and Matt Kesler on bass & vocals. SHE SAID play Lawrence Field Day Fest, Friday, July 14, at 8:00 PM at The Granada Theatre Outdoor Stage.
At 11:00, Fally Afani, the Editor, Founder, Reporter, and Photographer of I Heart Local Music, joins us for the entire hour to play music from artists playing Lawrence Field Day Fest. Fally Afani is an award-winning journalist with a career spanning more than 15 years in media. She has worked extensively in radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and more. Fally’s work has been featured in magazines, newspapers, and television stations across Kansas. She received several Kansas Association of Broadcasters awards as well as an Edward R. Murrow award for her online work in journalism. I Heart Local Music is a place for music lovers in Lawrence to gather. It was started out of a deep love and appreciation for the local music scene.
