The 120 Best Recordings of 2021
(Part 4 of 4)
Wednesday MidDay Medley presents part 4 of our 4-week special: The 120 Best Recordings of 2021. Based on playlists of this little ole radio show, we’ve compiled representative tracks from our favorite full-length albums and EP recordings of 2021. We realize these “Best of” lists can seem subjective, so we ask that you please accept our list as a celebration of the year in music.
In 2021 we’ve broadcast nearly 900 different tracks over our 100,000 watts of 90.1 FM Community Radio Airwaves. Over 500 of these tracks were from New & MidCoastal Releases. We played tracks from 216 National Releases, and 373 MidCoastal Releases. 90 of the representative tracks in our “Best of” list are from MidCoastal Releases. We conducted over 138 interviews with 160 special guests. 59 of the bands and artists in our “Best of” list have joined us as guests on Wednesday MidDay Medley.
All through December Wednesday MidDay Medley has been presenting our 4-week series: The 120 Best Recordings of 2021, on December 8th, 15th, 22nd, and now our finale on the 29th. This is our celebration of the year when we were able to survey over 600 area musical releases.
This Wednesday, we’ll count down from #30 through #1 of our list, with music from: Blackstarkids, Quiet Takes, Bob Walkenhorst, Ana Kennedy, Cuee, Sisterbot, True Lions, Namelessnumberheadman, Effie, Company No Company, Approach, Liam Kazar, Making Movies (with Calvin Arsenia), Wyndsrfr, The Greeting Committee, The Roseline, Samantha Fish, Claire Adams, Frogpond, Knife Crime, Monta At Odds, Kadesh Flow, Flare Tha Rebel & Bob Pulliam, Art d’Ecco, Low, Tune-Yards, Dry Cleaning, Vince Staples, José González, and Arlo Parks.
