Amy has been a a member of the bands: American Catastrophe, Experimental Instrument Orchestra, Shotgun Idols, Sister Mary Rotten Crotch, Atlantic Fadeout, The Silver Maggies, and Amy Farrand and The Like. The last time we talked with Amy on the radio was April 1, 2020 while she was stranded in Italy after traveling there to help a friend move back to the U.S. In her second week of visiting her friend the Coronavirus hit hard and citizens were ordered to quarantine themselves at home. One reviewer wrote of her, “Amy Farrand is a tough-as-nails vocalist making her an invaluable asset to any live act.” In April 2018, Amy’s band Amy Farrand & The Like released their 11-song debut album and were nominated for a Pitch “Best of Kansas City” Award. Amy Farrand and The Like play their first show in almost three years on Friday, June 3, at 8:00 PM at The Black Box, 1060 Union Ave., KCMO, in West Bottoms.
At 11:00 KC based drummer, audio engineer, producer and dad, Sam Platt joins us as “Guest Producer” for our second hour, to talk and share music about his collaborations with Expassionates, Ken Lovern’s OJT, Jackie Myers, Alan Murphy, Jacque Garrouette, Fred Wickham Caravan, and with musician and producer Corbin Dooley for the L.A. based band Ondist (Corbin Dooley, Nick Poortman, & Maya Coppola) and Dooley’s solo recordings and production work. Sam will share a track from a recording session that took place at Weights & Measures with Duane Trower, that included: Claire Adams on vocals, Eddie Moore on keyboards, DeAndre Manning on bass, Jamie Anderson on guitar, and Sam Platt on drums. Over 20 songs were recorded, 14 originals, 6 covers the tracks were spread out over three Ondist albums and a Corbin Dooley solo release. Sam plays drums at Green Lady Lounge. Sam Platt plays The Ship on Saturday, June 18, at 6:00 PM when Fred Wickham Caravan and Expassionates play live.
