At 10:30 we welcome back to the show, Shaun Crowley the Founder & Executive Director of Manor Records, a non-profit organization that functions as a record label to support KC musicians. Shaun shares details about MANOR RECORDS 9 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, Thursday, October 1, at 7:00pm to Midnight, at The Ship 1221 Union Ave, KCMO in the historic West Bottoms. The celebration will include performances by The Manor Records Family Band, DJ Mers, and host Brittany Tilander. There will also be a Raffle and Silent Auction with items from local businesses such as JHS Pedals, Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches, KC Fret Shop, and more! At 11:00 Colin Halliburton joins us to share music from his band, The Roseline and their new album 86 GUMPTION, released August 7, 2026, that was recorded at Element Recording Studios, The Green Lodge, KPR, and in the homes of Jim Piller, Bradley McKellip, and Heidi Gluck. Engineered by Joel Nanos, Jim Piller, Jason Slote, Bradley McKellip, Heidi Gluck, and Rob Pope. And features Colin Halliburton on acoustic guitar, vocals; Bradley McKellip on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, field recording; Heidi Gluck on keys, bass, vocals; Colin Jones on bass; Jim Piller on drums, percussion; and Lynn Piller on pedal steel. At 11:30 Mark welcomes Jesse Kates and Kate McCandless who join us to share details about: The Sexy Accident’s 21st anniversary album release with She Speaks in Tongues, Friday, October 2, 2026, at 8:00pm at Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, 2012 Baltimore Ave, KCMO. The Sexy Accident is Jamie Lin, Ramone Hall, Jesse Kates, Ryan Leip, Mack McKinney who will perform their new vinyl album release, BEFORE WE INVENTED THE MOON as a six-piece acoustic ensemble in Studio 306 above the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center. BEFORE WE INVENTED THE MOON is a revisionist history of new, homespun recordings. The album features a re-imagined selection of songs from all eras of the band’s back catalog, plus one entirely new tune, “Hard Launch.” She Speaks in Tongues opens the night. Kate McCandless is SHE SPEAKS IN TONGUES (vocals, looping, music, lyrics, guitar) she recently teamed up with Frogpond’s Heidi Phillips, Kristen Conkright, and Michelle Bacon to record “SMILE.” Kate writes, “this song was created to capture the feeling of that “second skin” – a feeling all too familiar for women – that curdles and writhes when we’re being perceived. When power and entitlement are being projected onto us by men. Leers, stares, cat calls, and “innocent” remarks – “why don’t you smile, honey?” – translate directly to abuse.
