   [Music, Fashion, Film is the eighth studio album by the British singer-songwriter Charli XCX, released on 24 July 2026 and distributed through Atlantic Records. A pop album, it features production by her longtime collaborators A. G. Cook and Finn Keane, who both co-wrote the album with Charli. // The album was preceded by the release of four singles, all of which have accompanying music videos; the lead single “Rock Music”, followed by “SS26”, “Wink Wink” and “Camera”. A film of the same name accompanies the album, which includes visuals for all 11 songs, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the album’s creation. // Upon release, Music, Fashion, Film received acclaim from music critics, who praised its lyrical honesty and experimental production. She began posting songs on Myspace in 2008 before entering the London rave scene. Signing a recording contract with Asylum Records in 2010, Charli XCX released a series of singles and mixtapes in the early 2010s. In 2012, she co-wrote and was featured on Icona Pop’s “I Love It”, which became her first number-one song in the UK and received global success, but her debut album, True Romance (2013), failed to meet commercial expectations. // In 2014, Charli XCX was featured on Iggy Azalea’s single “Fancy”, which became her most streamed song and one of the year’s best-selling singles worldwide. 3. Sara Bellum and the Brainwaves –”RayGun (Dance Punk)”

   [Sara Bellum and the Brainwaves released their last single “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” on June 17, 2026. Sara Bellum and the Brainwaves are a 7-piece dance punk band based in Kansas City, Missouri. Their music combines danceable rhythms, rockin’ guitar riffs, and upbeat melodies paired with the uncommon instrument-ation of viola, keytar, and foley art. The band’s inception began in theatre school where lead vocalist Sara Bellum first met guitarist MC Burnie Beta, sound designer Theo Theta, and vocalist/keytarist Zesty Zeta. Although it took many years for the band to fully form, these friendships developed the ground-work of what the group would become. After meeting violist Gemma Gamma, drummer Delma Delta, and bassist Athen Alpha, the band was fully assembled in late 2024, began performing live in January 2025, and started record-ing in April 2025. After Athen Alpha left to attend college at the end of 2025, Brainwaves welcomed bassist / keys player Spencer Synapse into the group. Just as their name emphasizes the brain, much of the Brainwaves’ music and art focuses on mental health and healing. With the belief that mental health is just as important as physical health, they wish to build a loving community with their art.

4. Monta At Odds – “When I’m Gone – The Republic Tigers Remix”

   [Dedric Moore announced a new team for Monta at Odds with Dedric is Kirsten Paludan, Nate Holt, and Patrick Buchanan (House of Transgression, Mousetrap). // For this track Monta At Odds created a new version of Teri Quinn’s song “When I’m Gone.” Then the band released a remix of their single “When I’m Gone” mixed by The Record Machine label mate Kenn Jankowski, lead singer, co-founder of The Republic Tigers. The remix featured Kenn’s voice singing with Teri’s voice. The collaboration led to Kenn joining Monta At Odds as a vocalist and synth player. And when Kenn played out as The Republic Tigers the members of Monta At Odds became The Republic Tigers. // PEAKED has remixes and alternative versions of Monta At Odds’ 2021 album, PEAK OF ETERNAL LIGHT released on July 23, 2021. // Monta At Odds was founded by brothers Dedric & Delaney Moore. The two played music together all their lives and have been exploring the Monta At Odds sound since the band’s debut in 2000. // In 2020 the band added acclaimed vocalists, guitarists, and songwriters Mikal Shapiro & Teri Quinn to the lineup. With their otherworldly vocal contributions, Monta At Odds continued to push their alternate reality into streamlined consciousness. On Dec. 18, 2020 Monta At Odds released A GREAT CONJUNCTION their 5-song EP released just in to coincide with the ‘double-planet’ convergence of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21 2020, which last occurred in 1226. These tunes form a soundtrack to the planetary event, five songs linked together by the vastness of space and as a meditation on our infinitesimal place in the universe. 6. Heath Church – “The Invitation”

   [Kamerra Jodale Franklin (born June 7, 1987), is known as Kam Franklin, is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, performance artist, activist, writer and orator. She is known as the lead singer for the Houston soul group The Suffers. She began her career as a backing vocalist and dancer, and has toured with Jim James, Ruthie Foster, Margo Price, and the Very Best. // Franklin is known for her soulful mezzo-soprano vocals, as well as her collaborations with artists across many different genres, including Houston rappers Z-Ro and Fat Tony (rapper), Americana-rocker Matthew Logan Vasquez of Delta Spirit, famed drummers Chris Tsagakis of RX Bandits and The Sound of Animals Fighting, and her production mentor Jim Eno of Spoon. // Franklin was nominated for the 2008, 2009, and 2011 Houston Press Music Award for Best Female Vocalist. Andy Cush of Pitchfork described the album as extraordinary in its eclecticism. // In 2024 she spoke with MIZU on the Talkhouse podcast on the occasion of Red Hot’s release of the compilation album Transa, on which she was featured. // In April 2025, White signed to the label Joyful Noise. Alongside the announcement, she released “Kratom Headache Girls Night”, a single for her forthcoming album. Ken Lovern is a composer and jazz organist who has lived in the free state of Kansas his entire life. Even before graduating from the Conservatory of Music of the UMKC, Ken was playing gigs full time with legendary KC vocalist Ida McBeth. Ken was recognized by Keyboard Magazine as the “Unsigned Artist of the Month” for May 2006.

In Blind Boone the Musical, Ken has composed the music, lyrics, and story to create an historical musical fantasy about the life of Missouri’s’ ragtime pioneer, John William “Blind” Boone. Blind Boone struggled against and overcame racism as one of the first African American concert performers. This musical tells of his roots in a Union Army camp at the end of the Civil War and how a former Confederate General and town elder of Warrensburg helped arrange for Boone to be educated at a school for the blind.

Ken has been composing for musicals since he wrote the music for “Excuse Me, Are You a Dragon” for Stone Lion Puppets. Ken wrote the music for numerous Stone Lion shows including Frog Prints, Little Red Hen’s Garden, and The Lost Treasure.

For over 13 years Ken has played jazz organ with OJT at Green Lady Lounge 5 nights a week. A tragic fire at Green Lady Lounge has ended this run for tnow. For the last 3 years, Ken has helped record, mix, & curate “Live at Green Lady Lounge” a weekly hour long show on Kansas Public Radio that features groups that play at Green Lady Lounge.

Ken has been releasing jazz recordings on his Jazz Daddy Records label since the release of “Ken Lovern’s OJT” in 2005. Ken has started a new label, Free State Recordings, to release concept albums and historical musicals such as Blind Boone the Musical.

OJT: Ken Lovern -Hammond Organ, Brian Baggett – Guitar, & Kenny Watson Jr. – Drums. OJT builds on the classic organ jazz trio by mixing old school Kansas City jazz with blues and a modern funky groove. Ken Lovern on Hammond organ, Kenny Watson Jr. on drums, and Brian Baggett on guitar play equal parts in balanced arrangements with outstanding improvisations. OJT has been a band for more than 20 years and it shows. Kenny Watson Jr. has been with the group for just over two years, and he brings a fresh groove to the old school organ jazz jams.

Guitarist & composer Brian Baggett started playing jazz gigs in KC in 2000. Shortly thereafter in 2003, Brian teamed up with Ken Lovern & Kevin Frazee to form the original OJT. For years the group played clubs and festivals around Kansas City. In 2013, OJT started playing shows at Green Lady Lounge. Roughly a thousand gigs later the band is still playing Green Lady Lounge four nights a week. Brian also plays in Guitar Elation with Danny Embrey and fronts the Brian Baggett Trio on Mondays at Green Lady Lounge. Both groups have recorded live albums at the club and have done “in studio” performances for Kansas Public Radio. Before becoming a full time jazz musician, Brian worked for Supersonic Music, taught guitar at area universities, and spent five years making guitar videos for Musicians Friend and Guitar Center.

Kenny Watson Jr. is a highly skilled musician with over a decade of professional experience as a drummer, bassist, composer, and teacher. Kenny’s music is known for its energy and infectious positivity, always leaving audiences with a smile on their faces. Recently, Kenny was featured in KC’s JAM Magazine, cementing their status as a rising star in the music industry.

John William “Blind” Boone (May 17, 1864 – October 4, 1927) was an American pianist and composer of ragtime music.

Boone was born in a Federal militia camp near Miami, Missouri, May 17, 1864, to a contraband slave, Rachel, who used the surname, Boone, on the 1870 Federal Census. On John W. Boone’s 1927 Missouri Death Record, Rachel’s maiden name is said to be Carpenter. His father was a bugler in the 7th Missouri State Militia Cavalry (Union). At six months Boone fell ill to “brain fever” and to release the swelling of the brain a radical surgical procedure was performed, removing both of his eyes. This is how he became “blind” Boone. He grew up in Warrensburg, Missouri, where Camp Grover was the headquarters of the 7th MSM at the end of the Civil War.

Boone’s mother, Rachel Boone Hendricks (when she married Harrison Hendricks in 1871, she used the Boone surname), worried that her son would find life too difficult without some sort of education. Because of this, his hometown of Warrensburg decided to make sure that Boone received an education and paid for him to attend the Missouri School for the Blind where he played the piano for first time. After growing bored with his experience there (they tried to teach him to make brooms), Boone’s habitual rule breaking (sneaking off at night to listen to piano music at the local barrooms) got him expelled. He returned to Warrensburg where he began to wander, playing with local musicians. He was actually kidnapped for a time by a gambler and sometime showman, Mark Cromwell, until his step-father, Harrison Hendricks caught up with them in Mexico, Missouri. In 1879, Boone was “discovered” by Columbia, Missouri, contractor, John B. Lange, Jr., who put Boone on the road, as Blind John. Only meager financial success was attained until Boone was boarded for two months at the home of George Sampson in Iowa. Mrs. Sampson was an accomplished pianist herself and taught Boone how to properly play the great European masters. It is said she taught him not only their minds, but their hearts as well. Upon his return to Iowa, Lange found his young protege had acquired much new skill, and with the addition of a vocalist, began billing as the Blind Boone Concert Company. The Company worked hard, traveling from town to town on a whistle-stop like tour. They began to acquire fame and fortune, returning to Columbia in 1887 with a large sum of money to deposit in their bank account. By the new century, they were among the most popular acts in the country, playing 300-plus dates annually. John Lange died in Kansas City in 1916. In 1889, Boone had married John Lange’s daughter, Eugenia Lange. Boone continued on, touring the eastern US in 1919, spending an entire month in New York city. Upon announcing his retirement from touring in 1924, Boone was described by a Kansas City newspaper as having, “combined talent with hard work to make life worth living.” Due to financial difficulties brought on by a less than adequate manager, Boone continued to play concerts until the spring of 1927. He died of acute dilation of the heart on October 4, 1927, in Warrensburg. He was buried at the Columbia Cemetery. “Blind Boone, His Early Life and Achievements,” Mrs. Melissa Fuell-Cuther, B.S.D., Evangel Pub. Society, Robbins, Tennessee, 1918.

Boone played thousands of concerts in the U.S. and Canada. After becoming one of the first black artists recorded by the QRS piano roll company in 1912, he played 11 selections while a machine punched the notes on the roll. Boone’s ability to play many notes rapidly made it difficult to record him accurately. His best-known composition, “The Marshfield Tornado”, was never recorded or written down because it was too complex. Between Jan. 18, 1880 (his first concert) and 1913 John William Boone had given 7,200 concerts, traveled 144,000 miles (sometimes traveling 20 miles a day) slept in around 7,000 beds, and given $180,000 to charities, churches, halls, opera houses, etc. The original Blind Boone Concert Company consisted of Boone, John Lange, Stella May, Ruth Lange, and Eugenia Boone.

Boone married Eugenia Lange in 1889. Lange traveled with Boone and would read to him and help him learn geography. “With his excellent memory, he recalled all the railroad routes he had taken when young and the many places he had traveled”.

Due to Boone’s disability, he identified colors by feel. He called it “seeing with my mind”.

The home of Blind Boone still exists in Columbia, Missouri. In 2000, the City of Columbia purchased the home and it is currently undergoing restoration. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Boone’s 1891 custom-made Chickering piano has been completely refurbished and was gifted to the Boone County Historical Society’s Museum. The 9 ft., oak grand piano is curated by the historical society and is on display to the public during the museum’s open hours. The piano is also brought to life several times each year as the featured attraction of a concert series held in the gallery where the piano resides.

There is also a park in Warrensburg, MO called “Blind Boone Park,” wmade in the 1950s.

The John William Boone Heritage Foundation was founded to preserve the history of Blind Boone and to elaborate the important role Missouri played in the development of Ragtime and early Jazz music.

The Boone Theater on the corner of East 18th Street and Highland Avenue, was first constructed in 1924 as a mixed-use commercial and theater building.

The theater went through several name changes over the years. Initially called the Rialto Theater, it was renamed the New State Theater by 1929, and then the Boone Theater by 1930. Its second name change was in memory of concert pianist John William “Blind” Boone, one of Missouri’s earliest and most influential Black ragtime pianists and composers, who died in 1927. In the mid-1940s, the theater and one of the storefronts became the Scott Theatre-Restaurant.

The building was also home to several local businesses in the 1920s-40s, including beauty parlors, barbers, a real estate office, women’s clothing stores, a physician’s office, a dentist’s office, a market, a music teacher’s office, and a record store. The Musicians Protective Union Local 627 also operated out of the building in the late 1920s. In the 1940s, while the Scott Theatre-Restaurant was in business, a portion of the building was a hotel.

In 1949, the building was converted into an armory for the National Guard 242nd Engineer Battalion. Not much is presently known about the 242nd, but it was established in 1949 and appears to have been an all-Black or majority-Black battalion. Its members may have been the first Black troops accepted into the Missouri National Guard. After the 242nd left the building in 1962, it served as an armory for the 104 Replacement Battalion, then the 146th Engineers Battalion, and finally the 1140th Military Police Company, which left the building in 1971. The building has been vacant since then.

The Boone Theater building is a contributing resource to the 18th and Vine National Register Historic District, whose period of significance spans from 1886 to 1941. This period begins with the construction of the earliest extant building in the district at the time of nomination (1991) to the arbitrary 50-year cutoff. Therefore, in accordance with the district’s listing, the period of significance for the Boone Theater building itself spans from its original construction in 1924 to 1941.

Features and finishes from this period are considered historic, even if they are not original. SHPO/NPS will consider their significance to the property and whether they are character-defining elements and to what degree they are impacted by proposed changes. This period of significance is relatively brief in relation to the history of the Boone Theater building. It does not cover the years during which the Scott Theater-Restaurant inhabited the building, nor the 20 year period during which the building served as an armory, which are objective-ly significant periods of the building’s use. Because the changes made in 1949 when the building was converted to an armory fall outside of the current period of significance, those changes are considered non-historic. This means that they may be removed/reversed, if desired. However, because the armory was a significant use of the building and given that it played an important role in Black military history, it may be worth considering electing to keep some changes to preserve and tell the story of that era of the building’s history.

Boone Theater is a rectangular CMU building clad with brick and stucco. The exterior has elements of the Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style, while the interior of the auditorium has Classical Revival detailing. The north portion (front) of the building is divided into three stories and originally housed the theater entrance, commercial storefronts, and offices, while the theater auditorium and back of house area in the rear span the full height of the building. Situated on a corner in a dense urban setting, the building has principal elevations on the north and west sides, and it sits flush with the sidewalks. – (This article was sourced by: Rachel Alison, Rosin Preservation)
