Last year, Mark Titus joined us to share music from the Pembroke Hill Glee Club of 1968, DMZ a Boston based punk band, and the KC Chorale in Kirkwood Hall. Mark Titus returns today to share musical selections inspired by a July 11, 2013, KC Star Preview feature written by Robert Trussell showcasing seven female performers of musical theatre.

Mark Titus has been involved in the video industry for more than 20 years. What started as videotaping family events led to the creation of Titus Video in 1985. Gradually Mark has expanded his focus to include performance art archiving, training videos, coach and highlight DVDs for high school, college, and professional sports.

[The inaugural production in Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s 320-seat playhouse, Copaken Stage. The show has been in production and developed through several regional productions. Now called “One Night with Janis Joplin,” the Kansas City Repertory Theatre announced that the show will not be performed in its 2013-14 season. The musical tribute, written and directed by Randy Johnson, and starring Mary Bridget Davies is based on the life and music of the late Janis Joplin. One Night with Janis Joplin had originally planned a pre-Broadway production at Spencer Theatre, running Sept. 20-Oct. 13. Instead, the show will go directly to the Lyceum Theatre in New York, where performances begin Sept. 20]

Bill Sundahl is a musician and singer and songwriter who was part of the Pitch Music Award winning band It’s Over, the critically acclaimed band The Columns, he toured with The Gaslights, and he currently plays in the KC supergroup: The Starhaven Rounders. Bill Sundahl is the founder of Spice of Life Productions, creator of “The Donkey Show,” and founder and organizer of The Crossroads Music Festival, now in it’s 9th year. For 9 years Bill has joined us in September, on the Wednesday MidDay Medley to talk about the Crossroads Music Festival, and the great bands that are participating.

[Jamie Searle won critical acclaim as lead vocalist and songwriter for the band It’s Over who won a Pitch Music Award for Best Live Act. He left It’s Over to concentrate on his music education as a student of UMKC’s Conservatory of Music where he has immersed himself in musical theory, composition, harmonic structure, melody. Now out of school, Jamie is in the process of recording a full length release of material he has composed for a large ensemble of musicians. The result is: My Brothers & Sisters, a collective of at times up to 18 musicians, including a strings, horns, percussionists, bass, keyboards, vocalists, and back-up vocalists, Jamie on vocals and guitar and conducting.]

[KC Super-Group, was formed in 2010. The band includes: David Regnier, Jason Beers, Matt Richey, Michael Stover, Marco Pascolini and sometimes Lauren Krum who sings with David on “Pardoning”on the EP. David Regnier was part of critically acclaimed band The Afterparty, that released three full length recordings. He formed Dead Voices with Jason Beers of The Brannock Device, and Mike Stover and Matt Richey of The Grisly Hand, and Marco Pascolini who plays in The Brannock Device with Jason, and is founder of Mr. Marcos V7 a band that also includes Mike Stover. Lauren Krum who aside from her lead vocals with The Grisly Hand, also sings with David as the duo Ruddy Swain.]

KCXX is a social benefit organization established in May of 2012 to benefit and showcase Kansas City’s artists and musicians. [5-piece band from Kansas City, includes: Fritz Hutchison – vocals, banjo, percussion; Zac Jurden – vocals, guitar; Colin Nelson – vocals, guitar; Elliott Phillips – bass, mandolin; Kate Sopcich – cello, keyboard. The band is currently working on a second full-length album. Zac sent us this track which is one of two singles off our new record. The song is named after the place in Missouri. Zac told us that they are looking to release the new record in october or november if everything goes according to plan.]
